Preamp volume pot

I want to build simple outboard booster with using the Cebek PM-7 guitar Preamp
Intended use is for magnetic soundhole pickups into guitar amps. What volume pot and slope, and would it go at the input or output?

It already has an internal adjustable gain control so you add volume control at the output.
Best would be a 10 to 25 k Audio taper pot.

You set up output at a low level and adjust internal gain pot for barely crunching on loud chords, then set it um somewhat lower for best dynamic range.
