There are 2 FX loops.  The usual one called FX send and return is just a parallel loop.  The one with the series switching function is called 'pre-master loop'.  I think the first time he tried the parallel loop.

Glad to hear you resolved the problem. :tu:
This has to be one the most common fail modes in a lot of gear.
You have 3 options,
1, Clean it
(but Murphy says it will likely fail again in the not to distant future at a worst possible moment)
2, Replace the socket. (Requires pulling the chassis and fiddly work)
3, Take a short jumper lead and bridge the PreOut back into Poweramp in.
This bypasses the flimsy switch in most of those switching sockets.
Anytime you do need to use the loop just remove the jumper.
No soldering needed and you likely have a spare jumper lead already.
Cost Zero dollars.

My money is on option 3 8|

My Laney linebacker had this same issue. I used a right-angle jumper which sits flat against the back of my Amp. no need for me to remove it for transport.
