Crate makes a soild amp (including that one) , I have to agree with JM Crate amps are not as bad they make them out to be in most forums.

Yes J M , it is a common believed that everything can be found on the internet , and it is far from the trueth. However for those of you that are serious above building amps or even working on them , the Jack Darr book is a must, I didn't discover it until I had all ready been thru college and working in the field for some time , it sure would have made things a lot easier if I had. Now back to that fine amp of JM's yea it being used in daily life is probably what keeps it alive it does me .  :lmao:

I fully understand the that your are speaking of the tone tank brother , and yes I was speaking of the entire amp. Here in "the real world " why would I insert the tone tank from a $300 amp into a $15,000 amp.  :lmao:

Great advise and a fine schematic , however I have a few Hiwatts and 1 Dumble and the HiWatt doesn't even come close to the tone of my Dumble.

great advise as always from J M , but to answer the mod question , yes the MG15 can be be modiified (did I spell that right lol) just like any other amp (tube or sollid state) however , the question you really need to ask yourself is it worth the time and money to do so.

I rarely think of age.  Guys all the time ask when an amp was made.  I think, how should I know?  I don't care.   I leave that to the fans.   I don't mean it unkindly, but I call the folks who can tell you every model and year amp fans.  The guys who can quote chapter and verse, "Oh the master volume didn't come out until 1974, and then the pull switch was added in 1977, and..." or whatever.  I call them fans, like the guys who like to rattle off baseball stats.  More power to them and bless their hearts.

Jukebox people are the same way.  They want to tell me what year it was made, but I want to know what model it is.

But to me, I think in terms of how things are made.   Old Fender is galvanized heavy steel chassis, Modern Fender is formed sheet steel like these wedgies.  Old Fender is eyelet boards and caps up under a cover.  Modern Fender is large pc board.  I don;t care how old it is within those categories.
I agree with that , I work on to many amps to remember when they came out , and all te rest of the sales pitch lol lol lol

First off , if you like this amp , either fix it or have it fixed. Second , with this and any other amp you can use any quality part that cross reference's to the original part. No to the issue with this amp a buzz can have many source's. It is possible that it is a capacitor , weak or bad OPAMP or transistor and oh yea bad solder joints are a common source of noise problems. However , I would start by taking some contact cleaner and giving the thing a good cleaning , then test ya may get lucky. Let me back up a second here , have you  check the amp without the OD pedal ? post the schematic and more people on here can help you , I check on the Fender Website it's not listed there.

Indeed you can check a ton of stuff without a diagram on this amp , and perhaps get lucky and find the problem. I would start from signal input to the driver and power section of this amp. chances are if you have power to the preamp and it is functional , your power tranformer is fine. my advise on this one is don't waste alot of time on it until you get the diagrams and any service documentation your can obtain.

Well assuming that your speaker outputs are paralled your at 3.2 ohms with that combo of speakers. If it was a old Solid State Peavey that would be fine, I never use any less than 8 ohms on anything (tube or solid state) . Just for simplicity , the reason for the difference in tone and volume is loading on the output rather it be on the transistor or a output transformer.
