I just happened to come upon a schematic for a small 8W amp just before seeing your post :)

sorry what I meant was having passive tone controls against that of active tone controls, any advantages/disadvantages?

or you could try to convert it to PDF files

what advantage is there for the preamp-tone control? wouldn't connecting the preamp to the power amp suffice?

I should point out however that this and the tonebender only give a maximum of 10x gain so they might not provide enoguh boost for what you need.

okay since you brought it up, what exactly does that mean? what sort of problems would I encounter? sorry your talking to a newbie  :-[

how are you coming along on the build? I've finally decided to go and build an amp for my own... I plan on using an OPA549 I have lying around the house and have a pre-amp infront of it... this one looks good. It would be either this one or the tonemender in runoffgroove

would the schematic in the data sheet be okay for use as a guitar amp?

edit:
just took another look at the data sheet and there are two schematics there one says single supply operation... would you know how that would differ from the schematic in page 1?

thanks

Amplifier Discussion / transformer for power supply
September 15, 2007, 06:26:55 AM
I saw this schematic: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_reg_power_supply.pdf for a 9v regulated power supply... my question is, could I just replace the transformer with any type of transformer as long as it's output is 12v?

yup that's also the reason that I plan on doing that amp... aside from the fact that the components are relatively easy to purchase here.

what size diameter is that speaker?

I can read a schematic but have no clue on how they work... just a question with your IC does this mean that nothing is connected to pins 1 and 5?
