I went and got the original enclosure to the amp the other day, there's not much left of it, But now I know more about how the control panel was originally mounted. I also found a digital multimeter for $12, and I bought it. I'll be measuring the pots in the amp next time I take it apart.

No need to worry about that. I don't stomp on any of my pedals. I use just enough pressure to turn them on and off. these switches that I used for the foot switch are very easy to push. they're pretty sturdy for plastic too. I also labeled it. I found out a way to givethe letters an aged appearance. I used microsoft works to print the words, and put clear tape over them while the ink was fresh, then I carefully pulled the tape off and it transferred the letters to the tape. When I put my labels on, the letters looked old and faded. It looks as good as it works. :tu:

Yes, This is one beast of a speaker, and it still sounds very clear. I've actually put quite a bit of power through the cabinet. I didn't hear a single rattling sound. The speakers were thumping so hard that they blew the front cover off the cabinet. The power to do that came from my peavey PA. The front cover to the cab is held on by velcro, thought I'd add that little detail. :tu:

It's for sure a '61. 50 years old and still going strong! :tu:

I found the original enclosure for the amp head yesterday( well, what's left of it). All I have to do is go back and get it. It sort of fell apart when I picked it up. I also found out where the celestion in the cab came from. My uncle put it there because one of the jensens went bad. He said he had bought the speaker at a flea market about a year before he bought the amp. In his words, something told him He'd need it. He said if he finds the other jensen he'll bring it to me. I sure hope it turns up.

I used two cheap push on/ push off switches. They costed $1.99 each. They're plastic, but they serve their purpose quite well.

Just keep looking, one will have to turn up eventually. I'm sure someone will have what you need. :)

I'm going to build a fuzz pedal soon, but I'm not sure which one. there's alot of them to choose from.

I built the footswitch today, and it works great. I got the parts at my local radioshack. It costed somewhere around 10 dollars, and I couldn't be more satisfied. :tu:

I spoke to a guy at elderly instruments, and he told me that the speaker is a 1961. He also told me that the appearance would vary, depending on who jensen built the speaker for. And he said that some silvertones came with jensens. I wouldn't trade my speakers for any of the new ones. The old ones sound better. Hang on to that old jensen of yours, Juan, they're worth some money. Mine is worth a couple hundred dollars.

Hello all,

I have a jensen c12n speaker in the cab of my old sears amp. I know it's not original, But I think it may be older than the amplifier itself. The date code is 220144. I know that 220 was jensen's manufacturer code. What is confusing me is the date code, and appearance of the speaker. It doesn't look like the others I've seen. It's silver, has a blue label, and 3 big phillips screws on the magnet. I know that in the '70's , Jensen changed from a 6-digit code to a 7-digit code, displaying the last 2 digits of the year instead of only 1. I also know that the 44 is the week. I've been thinking that this may be one of the very early ceramic magnet jensens(Most likeley 1961). I'd really appreciate your input on this.

Thanks, LJN

p.s. I found out how to read the code on jensentone.com, and I wrote it down. I also have a little bit of information about how to determine the manufacture date of celestions ( I also have a celestion g12 30 in the same cab, and it dates to may 13 1980).

That's alot cheaper than the route I was gonna take :o

I was gonna use the stompbox switches, a stereo jack, and a cut-off 3 prong cord. I'll definitely look into that! :tu:

Thanks alot, Joe.

I sure wish I could afford a marshall, But I can't. If I do get a tube amp, It'll probably be another cheapo. If I don't find one, it makes no difference. I'll still have my old sears. I'll just get a reverb pedal to solve the problem. I hear the EH holy grail is pretty good. Anyway, thanks, Phil.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'm going to build one as soon as I can.
