I have a Fender Pro 185. Two twelves, 185 watts and a reputation for peeling paint if you don't watch the volume. Channel two, the dirty side is loud and easily keeps up with the band with master on 3 and drive at about 5. The clean side sounds good but I have to keep it at 5, seems to me thats higher than it should be. I have replaced the "bass" pot on this channel, the shaft was snapped off, and I lubed/cleaned the rest of the pots. What are probable causes for lowered volume? On a tube amp I would look at the power tubes but obviously thats not the case here. Everything inside the amp looked good, clean and where it should be. Any ideas?

While removing one of the pots on my Fender Pro 185 I noticed that many of the solder joints had a reddish deposit on them, very soft and easily brushed away, is this the rosin in the solder?

I recently acquired a Fender Pro 185, the red knob version no less. The band and I think it actually sounds better than my similar all tube amp, but it has two problems. The primary one is that the knob for bass on the clean side is broken off at the shaft. Needless to say Fender no longer supplies the pot, does anyone have a source for this? Second problem is that the clean side seems to not have alot of power, in an amp famed for being super loud I have to put it up to 5 to keep up with a not too loud electronic drum set. Having said that the distortion side can definitely peel paint. Any ideas?

Hi, first post here. Have an old (1986) solid state Fender Stage Lead in need of a new pot for the treble on the amps distortion side. I have been told Fender no longer stocks this pot( part# might be 0028576000). I would like to order one from Mouser but am not sure of the pots values. Onlt writing on the pot is 15c-50k, and upside down U (sigma?) then jp. Its a D solid D shaft one half inch long. Shaft was pulled out of the backing plate, I pushed it in and reassembled it but I would prefer a new one. Thanks!
