Title: 1/4 watt dumble
Post by: smsuryan on March 06, 2026, 07:05:21 AM
https://youtu.be/apl7gM9BWKg?si=92MRI-PW1wnUatl7 Has anyone tried the 1/4 watt dumble? I wonder how it would be in a pedal, vs. adding a 3 band eq and housing it into an enclosure with a speaker and calling it an amp?

I had a friend ask me about this video just yesterday.
"Build a $5 Dumble-Style Amp" "It's called name dropping"
Translation back into Reality = "Build a $5 Amp"

Just by adding Dumble into the heading reaps him 176k views in 2 days.
It implies it sounds like a Dumble,, which is just DUMBULL BS for anyone who understands.

You would be better off building the Honey Amp.
The input Z of Waylons LM386 circuit is rather low for direct connection to a passive magnetic PU guitar.
(Waylon mentions that point in his video)

The Honey Amp comes with the added input stage which will be more user friendly.

Thanks to Joe for a great effort. ;)

I design all my crystal lattice's in the vacuum of space. I even include a night light filament to make it look cool 😎

Does anyone mass produce the "honey amp"? I assume there's not a giant market for us DYI amp builders. This spring, along with getting my honey bees back in production, the honey amp goes right in line. So it's like a sign from God! Thanks for the suggestion!

The Honey Amp was done as a kickstarter and then I had some after for sale, but sales were so slow I stopped selling them.  That said, you can still order boards from OSHPark.com here: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/DLReeaHK
