Title: Guitar Amp Wiring Notes Link
Post by: R.G. on January 30, 2026, 10:45:17 AM
On a DIY amp site I frequent, I wound up answering  a critical mass of questions on grounding practice, and to conserve on typing time, I decided to gather up some of the answers into a page or two of explanations of grounding practice.

Page or two my left foot. Before I had a coherent explanation with diagrams to illustrate, it ran to 50 pages.  :lmao:

I've gotten a few suggestions to put that where it can be viewed by more amp builders and fixers, so here is the link. It's straighforward, no adertising, no hidden fishhooks, just advice on wiring, and what I believe is more important, how to think about wiring, hum and noise, and grounding practice.

Take a look. If it's useful to you - good! If you think it's good advice, you might check for and post the link to other DIY amp groups you frequent if they don't have it already.

Thanks R.G.

I read a previous version but will gladly go through this one and report back if anything is unclear.

Thanks a bunch for sharing this and your knowledge with the community.

It's a topic that has great importance to anyone who delves into the wonderful world of circuit chassis wiring. I reread certain articles and concepts all the time just to cement it to my memory. Sometimes you read something again and realize a bigger picture exists.
