I picked up a 70's transistor console stereo with an 8 track recorder/player, a turn table, and AM/FM. I'm woundering if a guitar was hooked up to it if it might have an interesting raunchy pignose kind of sound? What would be the best way to hook a guitar up to it? I would like to retain the FM stereo and record player, not too interested in AM or 8 tracks.

It must have some way to select the sound source (Radio/Tape/etc.), usually some rotary switch (best) or some linked pushbutton type, which usually are a nightmare of dirty contacts.
But a whiff of Deoxit and working them in/out a few hundred times (ok, maybe a dozen or two ;)) may clean the crud.
Inspect it so you know where and how it reaches the power amp, or maybe some kind of preamp, to find a place to insert your guitar jack(s).
