Welcome to the forum!  If you are interested in a small amp, the SSGuitar Honey Amp is a great little unit.  It's going to have the same output as the Little Gem, but has an actual preamp circuit with tone control and more functional gain control as well.  I'm working on version 2 right now, so the original is on sale: https://store.ssguitar.com/product/honey-amp-kit/

If you want something bigger, I would want to know "how big" you want to go.  Eventually I will be selling a proper separate preamp as well as 20w power amp that you could purchase and assemble - this is honestly probably a year or two off though as I have a lot of projects going right now.  There are certainly others out there, but it depends on how much you want to do yourself vs buying a kit.  Not a lot of solid state kits out there for guitar amps worth building.

I could be wrong, but I don't think these use switchmode.  I've never been inside of one though.

Sounds to me like poor grounding and/or picking up electric interference on your circuit.  If you touch the strings on your guitar does it change the hum?  What about pickup selection?  Tone/volume knobs on the guitar make it change?  Unplug the guitar entirely and try the amp again - same noise?

Less than 6 months after releasing the AMPED 1, Blackstar has released the AMPED 2.  Like it's predecessor, the AMPED 2 features a 100w power amp to drive your speaker cab loud enough for gigging.  You can flip the attenuator switch and bring things down to bedroom level with ease though, which is quite fantastic.

Honestly, the sounds are pretty impressive.  The price is either a bargain or a total ripoff, depending on which side of the aisle you stand on.  Current MSRP is $649 USD.

Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea.  Enzo will be missed across many forums - he was a gem of a man.

I don't mind as long as the topic goes back to the original - I'm very excited about this 12w Marshall!

The Hotone Nano's sound neat, but I also have only heard them on the Tube.  Any time more good-sounding SS gear is out there, it's a good thing.  It gets people to play, and with modern gear.

Quote from: phatt on January 23, 2023, 06:27:23 AMI've heard these at gigs and not so impressed,, very sharp and too much bandwidth to really nail the classic sounds but the young ones seem to like this stuff.
I guess I'm showing my age here  ;)
I have noticed a lot of these Kats come up for sale on gumtree in my part of the world,, humm which suggests to me that they sell on novelty which wares off in a short time.
Phil.

This is my take on it as well, but who am I to argue with the masses?  As far as new gear goes that I want to try, Orange Super Crush 100 is at the top of my list!

Boss has released the Katana 50 MkII EX, Katana Artist MkII Head, and the Katana Waza 2x12 cab.

Boss Katana gear is widely accepted as amazing, and I'm sure this will be no different.  Pricing for the US has not been released yet.

Yes, there is a fuse. A t3.15al250v on the circuit board. And, in other news...

You cannot view this attachment.

Yeah, I'd say this is the issue lol.

Assuming that there is a fuse somewhere on the amplifier, you will be all set to use a larger EMI filter.  Just don't go smaller, or you will have the same thing happen again.  I would go with the 6A myself.

Before going any further, I would check for DC voltage across the speaker leads.  Disconnect the speaker and take a measurement.  It should be zero or close to it.
