Amplifier Discussion / Danelectro HT50
November 26, 2012, 09:41:49 PM
What are Danelectro HT50 amps selling for these days?  Not vintage, production discontinued sometime around 2000 I believe.

Anyone know what they sold for new?

Thanks,

BluesHawk

wow it's been awhile since I have heard anyone mention one of these little amps . If memory serve's me I think it's a 10 watt amp practice amp , great tone built pretty solid and fairly easy to repair , really no need for a schematic.  :dbtu:

Hi, Jack.  This is a way delayed reply but just read lots of posts I'd neglected and was pleased to hear your favorable experience with the Danelectro HT50 amp.

I've been happily playing mine with my Les Paul Special and BluesHawk.  My buddy has taken it for a spin with several of his top-of-the-line axes.  We agree, it's got lotsa guts and tone.

The Gain is more to my liking than that on my Peavey Classic 30 or on my friend's Goodsell.  It can get pretty rough, like Hound Dog Taylor's sound, with lots of sustain...mostly I play Blues and Blues Rock.

If anyone happens to have access to another, I want to buy.

Cheers,

Doug

JM, I bought the one at the pawnshop.  Not much of a gamble, moneywise.  Traded my three-year old travel-practice amp, a Fender Frontman 10 (also out of production) plus $10 USD.

The HT50 label says 40 watts.  Made in China.  Eight inch speaker.  Solid state.

It's much stronger than the Fender and seems to have a broader range of tones.  I've played my Gibson Blueshawk and a Classic Vibe '59 Duo-Sonic through it and am more than satisfied...to qualify that opinion, I'm relatively new to electric guitars and am not hi-tech, so I know less about amps than axes

My goal was to get a more powerful, tonally broader travel amp and I think I got a good deal.  So why would Eric want to let his go?    ???

Thanks for your help.

QuoteSo, how about suggestions for where I can get info on the HT50?  >:(  :grr  :trouble

Dunno ...... Google ? .....  :o   ???

EDIT:
I followed my own advice (wise guy !  8) )
and look what I found:

a) Danelectro Honeytone HT 50 for sale at Guitar Center: U$33.79
in: http://products.ebates.com/in_store_used_used_danelectro_honeytone_ht50_1x8_combo_standard_114602253.php

b) exact same amp, sold at Bonhams auction site for U$4800.
*Only* difference with the one shown above: it´s signed in the back by one "Eric Clapton".
It´s written with a felt pen on the backTolex, so not even the best Court Appointed expert can certify whether said signature is true or not.
http://www.bonhams.com/usa/auction/19226/lot/5/

So forget about asking about sound, schematic, speaker, anything; all that is worth, at best, U$33.79 ; while the "signature" is worth about U$4766.21  .
Oh well. ;)

Personal advice?
Out of curiosity, *I* would buy the Guitar Center one , and play, to know what all the fuss is about.
And no, I´m not kidding.

Good finds, JM!!!  I'll follow up.  Big thanks.  And I agree, the GC is a better deal but I trust Eric.   ;)

Hang on you only posted that today!  Have a bit of patience, and complain when you've waited a week say.  Give people a chance not everyone looks here every day especially over Christmas!

Thanks, Tony.  Didn't mean to complain.  But you are right, patience is good.

JM, thanks.  Yeah, I did search the internet an several guitar Forums over the last five days.  Google turned up nuthin...I'm a bit surprised at that but learned there had been a Danelectro Forum, now defunct.   :-\

I posted asking for info from folks familiar with the Danelectro Honeytone HT50.  Nuthin.    :-\   Not a real popular amp.

So, how about suggestions for where I can get info on the HT50?

Thanks!
