with that particular little power amp  it might just about work. i've got one of them lying round here, but lost the data sheet , unfortunately. IIRC,  it's rated for voltages from +12V to +18V ( single ended. ). but it is indeed so
that the full 18W will not be reached with 12V.

just have a look, they could have guitar speakers in the store- just to make sure: don't let anyone tell you that car-hifi speakers or anything will do the same job.

hm, sorry couldn't find any right now is there a conrad store near you?

you can add something like this ( sorry about the bad drawing )

make both caps something like10n or 15n. you could also use your favourite marshall/fender-style tonestack.

another thing: i guess the flipster is able to drive a poweramp easily with 9v; playing with different voltages
can be fun though because you can use it to fine-tune the way the preamp responds to picking and the volume pot of the guitar. there have been some complaints on other fora because some people felt that the ROG designs were not loud enough; i suppose that's partly because the speaker sim filter in the end is a little lossy.

QuoteI have found an 18 watt amplifier cuircuit on conrad already built for only 15
the black module? a decent speaker in the lower price range would be something like that: http://www.tubeampdoctor.com/index.php?cPath=37_39_65- if there's a good music store near your place, you could ask them whether they can order something that will suit your needs.
as far as the power supply is concerned: http://sound.westhost.com/psu-wiring.htm
good luck.

hi,
unfortunately, 80 EUR will be a little difficult unless you already happen to have a suitable speaker. if you have no experience with electronics in general, you could get a poweramp-kit as www.conrad.at offers them.
they come with a good documentation brochure and reasonably good parts. as for the speakers, conrad used to carry cheap guitar speakers in the past too (really cheap)- i don't know if they still do. for the power supply, you could see if there's a
good "bastelladen" near your place where you might find a suitable transformer.
finally, the only really good advice i can give you is to have look at a book called "gitarrenverstärker-sound" by a man called helmut lemme, quite a lot of information but very useful.

hi,
i wouldn't say that any project couldn't be used per se. if it works always depends on the input sensitivity of your power amp and, to a degree, on the supply voltage of your circuit;

many of the projects at www.runoffgroove.com can be converted to being good preamps
especially if you run them on 18v or 30v.
there are some useful links in the schematics section of the forum as well, for example
under " various schematic websites"

if you decide that you really want to mod it, the easiest thing to do is to experiment with different valves
in the preamp. you may get some more or less gain that way and some different coloration to the sound.
it may also be advisable to tweak the tonestack a little in order to suit the frequency range of the guitar a little better; that's the point where it dangerous, however, as you need to work inside the chassis i.e. in
the vicinity of parts that may carry high voltage.
a very inviting mod would be to convert the cathode follower to a second gain stage, possibly with extra gain pot.

probably depends on your style of playing, have you tried it once?

they are such a cool company that you'll find the schems for everything they ever produced athttp://www.morleypedals.com/downloads.html. the one i talked about is the PWA(http://www.morleypedals.com/pwaes.pdf). the circuit's very simple and it gives a massive boost.

by the way, which circuit are you planning to use?

QuoteI should note that I no longer shop at walmart due to how they treat their employees (low wages, no benefits etc).
very good decision.

the ultimate "cocked wha" is the old morley that everybody hates. it has a gain knob and a
sparate dpdt switch next to the rocking plate to turn it on and off.

the foam stuff can also help avoiding standing waves inside the cabinet which cause phase cancellation.
