Schematics and Layouts / Gretsch Broadkaster Maxi-Lead ...
Last post by dz123 - May 01, 2024, 05:16:39 PM
Hello!  I'm hoping somebody might me able to shed some light on & share some technical info about the Gretsch Broadkaster Maxi-Lead 60 2x12 S.S. guitar combo amp.  I "Think" it's from the 70s.

About 4 years ago I noticed a significant drop in the volume output.  I took it to a local repair guy who replaced some transistors & something else (I forget) and the amp worked like a charm for about 40 minutes and then the drop in output returned.  Unfortunately since neither I nor the repair guy could find any schematics or service guide the amp has just been sitting around doing nothing.

This is not my actual amp but maybe this pic of that I found on-line will be helpful Gretsch Broadkaster Amp

Maybe someone here has some experience w/ this amp or (fingers crossed) some documentation on it.  Any info will help.

Amplifier Discussion / Re: Hartke A35 Repair problems

At this point I have tested and/or replaced most components in the output section. With the input shorted, I am seeing about -1v DC at the output when the VARIAC is at about 45VAC.Any thoughts on where to look next for issues?

Yes, pictures should help.  Especially of any trace repairs that have been done.
Also, e,b,c voltages for T3 and T5.

I put all the knobs nuts washers etc back on my all time favorite amp

You cannot view this attachment.

They had been off since you guys fixed it.  I had planned to get around it but never did then I had an intermittent input jack and noticed how bad the chassis was rocking back and forth.

If anybody can get your amp running these guys can.

Maybe post up some pics of the boards

Well, I've replaced T1 and T2 as well as D1. Still reading pretty much the same voltages. At this point, all transistors have been replaced in the amplifier portion. I hate to deem this unit a loss but I am leaning that way as it was quite a mess with the traces from prior techs. Im 99% sure I have all the traces repaired correctly.

Its Alive! Built a box for and am really happy about it. Works with a small Accutronics plastic reverb tank, still sounds deeeeeeeep.
