I think I have askedd this before at some point but Im not sure where.

Can I remove the reverb tank from my amp and replace it with a different electronic reverb or some other effect, the reverb sound in this amp is weak which is the reason I want to do this.

Is there anything special about the signal being fed into the tank? And is there a way to boost the amount of reverb without changing the tank?

Thanks

Amplifier Discussion / LM3886 Progress
June 22, 2006, 03:15:27 AM
My LM3886 kit is in progress, I will post some pictures soon. Both PCBs a populated

I have a heatsink, Transformer, Fuse and PCB stands coming on monday.

Will update once I do some more.

One question though, For the offboard wiring should I use PC stakes? My offboard wiring is pretty terrible, I leave to much wire exposed on the upside of the PCB and it bends and snaps, Any pointers?

Amplifier Discussion / Bass and Guitar Amps
June 17, 2006, 01:00:50 AM
Everyone has told me that pluging a bass into a guitar amp can damage it, Is this true and if so why.

What makes a bass amp and a guitar amp so different and can a bass amp be modded into a guitar amp?

I have a Fender FM65R which I love, but the reverb is so subtle. Is this the tank itself or somthing else.

Does anyone do this. I was at work last night and new cash registers came in, They were packed in the wavy foam stuff that looks just like the sound proof foam, I figured I might as well give it a go since it wont cost me anything.

Does anyone here use the stuff on the inside of their cabs etc.

Preamps and Effects / I see a Wah in the making.
June 11, 2006, 10:43:27 PM
I was going through the garage the other day and found my mums old sewing machine, I didint wirk so I took the pedal apart. It works in the same way as a wah shell, Granted it didint have a potentionmeter but it has a (Dont flame me over this I have no idea what they are called) little plastic bit that moves up and down inside the pedal when you rock your foot, Just like the bit that turns the pot in a wah.

Guess I'll be buying some wah pots soon and giving it a shot, If I can I will get some pics up.

What is a fairly simple amp that will put out enough to effectivly drive a 2 X 12 and even a 4 X 12
speaker box without any clipping etc. I just want a nice clean sound

Thanks

I recently brought a 10 watt practice amp from my guitar teacher for around AUD $50. The sound is alright but when you turn it up the gain is so unbeleiveably fuzzy that I am actually thinking of making it into a noise maker stompbox.

Never tried to reverse engineer before but this has given me the inscentive to try.

If I figure it out I will post the schematic.
