ps: the lm386 should be able to have an output of 6v in 8ohm.

Would it be too much for a lm3886 amp?

Thank you guys, I'll build it as soon as i can.

Does anyone had good result in using the whole circuit as a preamp?
Isn't its output too big? maybe a switchable lpad (a la thd hotplate) could be implemented.
Or maybe a lowpass filter in the end could be used if overdriving the 386 could result in too much high...

I will post a pdf with the layout and pcb as soon as it's verified. ;)

the jumper is just cause i wasn't able make all the pcb "single face" so i used a jumper to connect the gain pot ;)

this is my pcb layout (not yet verified) with pcb mounted pots to semplify wiring. what do you think?

I'm thinking about makeing a better preamp for the noisy cricket and make a preamp out. It will become a bedroom head or a portable preamp in the same enclosure :)

in this version j1 and j2 are a jumper. if anyone is interested in testing the layout i can post the pnp image.

the opamp could be a ne5534, or even a tl071

ok i was able to find the transformer (it a 200va from ebay but it was cheaper than the 70va in the electronic store near house). And this weekend I'm going to build the amp.

Just one question: what kind of fuse should i use (value, slow blow or not...)?

very nice clips! The clean sound is good and it works great with pedals, i do like the Obsidian clip!

Thank you RDV!

here you have the datasheets
http://www.alldatasheet.net/view.jsp?Searchword=2N3

These are really cheap and powerful transistors, i saw them for 1.3 euros here in italy.

BTW Your amp has a REALLY nice and simple preamp.

do you have samples of this amp with clean settings? I saw the diodes in the end, probably ther limit pot makes an emulation of tube compression, so you can have crunch sounds too, right?

How does this preamp takes pedals?

I'm really interested in how this preamp work altough i would probably change the tone stack (never been familiar with the vox one i always end with bass and treble on 10, i suppose i need mid controls).

this is the cheapest i can find here in italy.
but it's probably highly over rated isn't it? would this be ok?

it's a
240 ac 340 VA
24v+24v 12A and 17v+17v 1A

yes if you mic it. 20 w per channel if you have very sensitive speakers can be enough for small clubs / pubs live situation. consider also the fact that is probably possible to have 25W per channel with this ic.

Ok i received today the lm1875 kit from Joe. I'm thinking about building a stereo guitar amp
(does someone remebers the jazz-chorus with two speakers and two power amps?).

I got a jensen p10r cone for 20 euros from ebay and another one is on the way.

now i need to buy the transformer.

can you tell me the specs for the right transformer?
should i go for a toroidal or not?

thank you very much Joe! I received the kit today!

Preamps and Effects / Re: TL072 preamp = super easy

that's a single opamp like a tl071. The dual woud be ne5532 (which is one of the best dual opamps in audio applications).
