Title: Quick Transistor lesson for Idyuts
Post by: ToadMeister on May 07, 2017, 08:18:01 PM
NPN - Arrow ---- Never Points iN    Base is positive
PNP - Arrow ---- Points iN Pal        Base is negative

The arrow indicates old fashioned + to - flow.

Think of a 'BEe' line or 'BE' (Base  Emitter) a charge on the Base (the switch) flows to the Emitter (the BEe line) and then allows a charge path bridge between the emitter and collector.

A photo Resistor is almost the same, but the switch is light, not a charge on the base.

That's all for today, if anyone sees a mistake (Ooooh, I make mistakes alright), or cares to add to this, be my guest.

I believe the proper term for the PNP letters is: Points In Perpetually".

Other than that, nice job.

Since there are only the two options, I learned it as Not Pointing iN.  I didn;t need one for PNP since it was the only other choice if it wasn;t NPN.
