Heres what I came up with. The bundle of 6x AA rechargeables to the right of the pedal box has a centre -ve  lead supplying pedals, and a centre +ve  supplying the amp in the fudge tin. The Orange is my cab.  I guess I need reverse polarity protection for the amp and maybe the pedals. Can I use an LED for that or do I need another type of diode? I know battery life may be an issue but may be a proper FX power supply mat work better?

No problem with the battery life over the last few weeks. Better than rechargeable PP3's.

I suspect it may be something else draining the battery, even when switched off. Have taken out LED and going to fit new battery just to see.

BTW I am using cheap supermarket batteries but they usually last OK in other projects. I did measure a new one and it read 11v  when disconnected. Is that normal?

Actually that is how I have it wired (with series resistor). Maybe I have a short somewhere?

BTW is there a good app for drawing schematics? I used Paint for this and it took a while

I think you are right. Is there a better way? I hope this drawing is clearer.

Sorry I meant I normally use red LEDs

I added a 'power on' LED to my TDA2003 amp and it is really draining the battery. Not sure if attached schematic is clear but it is between input ground and the + supply pin on the board. It's a green LED rather than the usual green with 2k resistor and 9v battery.

Glue gun.
Speaker for testing outputs.
Audio source for testing inputs (smart phone is good.
Hip flask for the same reason as the towel.

I know I said these were completed but made one last mod to the Bearskin. Now has internal speaker for portable distortion fun. Plus one if the chickenhead knobs which arrived today.

Thanks for that. None of these have preamps or tone controls of any kind so that might be next. Also have to fix the Orange amp in the photo as it needs some new pots. Then there's a few simple fuzz fx I'd like to try. Not to mention actual guitar PLAYING which has taken a back seat for a while.

Here are my completed amp projects to date, which I have referred to in my other posts. Thanks to everyone here who took the time to read and answer my queries. https://i.imgur.com/up8S0bt.jpg

Don't think my solder is lead-free but I will check.

Board was from Maplins  who are now out of business. Maybe I am using too much heat, so thanks for the tip on using a light dimmer. The iron is a basic 40w also from Maplins. Also have a Weller one but it needs a new tip.

Probably because of my soldering technique, I keep breaking the conductive strips on stripboard. Do I just need to user better quality stripboard, improve my technique  or move on to something new? I find I can assemble something, it works but by the time I add pots, switches etc. and put it in an enclosure I find I've broken the conductors.
