Tubes and Hybrids / Identifying sections of tube amp
January 22, 2016, 10:06:47 PM
Trying to learn once again, so I guess I will raise my hand and ask a question makes my face turn red. So far I understand enough to work my way through and identify a power transformer and rectifier section...after that I am kinda lost as to what section is what on a tube amp. Can anyone give me a heads up on the various "sections" of a tube amp and how to identify them on the schematic as well as on an amp?

I just tested a 68K 10% and it tested at 76.7K ohms is it too far out of spec? How do I determine this for myself?

Tubes and Hybrids / Traynor Traynor YGM-4
August 23, 2015, 03:28:41 AM
I have a 1972 Traynor Studiomate that has four 8" speakers in it. I am thinking of removing the speakers and replacing them with a new baffle and a 12" speaker. The speaker tap for the amplifier is 8 OHM and the speaker I would like to use is 16 OHM, would this be okay?

Tubes and Hybrids / Airline JDR 8439

A signal will pass through three jacks marked "Sting Instruments" in the center but the others to the right marked "Microphone Accordion" will not pass a signal. The Vibrato/tremolo does not work and I am not sure if the jacks labeled so are for foot switch or for an instrument. What should I try first ? I hope the schematic is close, if anyone has a better one please post it. I believe that this is a 1955 Wards Danelectro amplifier.

Tubes and Hybrids / Traynor YGM Tone Stack
July 30, 2015, 05:19:22 AM
I have a Traynor YGM amp that has a Baxandall tone stack, which seems to be great for clean tones. I would like to change this feature as it is way too fizzy when it breaks up. What type of tone stack would give the YGM3 a "darker" tone? This is the YGM-4 version with (4) eight inch speakers.
