Teisco Checkmate 30 SS amp- Anyone know it?

So I came across this little amp at a flea market. Didn't look at it long, but it was very interesting. Checked it out online later- Turns out it was the Teisco Checkmate 30. Now, I certainly know Teisco's guitars, but I'm not familiar with their amps, particularly this little guy. Check it out. http://www.larryjohnmcnally.com/Teisco/checkmate30.html
It's got a cone baffle sort of thing to project sound in a 360 degree formation. How in the world will that sound? Anyone know anything about it? How it sounds, mainly. I'm very interested- I'm considering building a replica.

Even more than the amp itself, I loved the "cool musicians" playing them in the catalog sheet.
Oh well.
As far as the acoustic deflector design, there actually existed some Hi Fi speakers like that, as well as the Ohm F which literally had a cone speaker designed by your typical geometry teacher, in a frame similar to this one and pointing upwards, to get a 360º radiation pattern.

That's got to be the most bizarre looking amp I've ever seen. I don't know about that type of amp myself, but I'd sure like to see it in action.
