Preamps and Effects / Re: An universal guitar preamp

Nice. A lot of sounds from that thing.

What would the parts to reproduce it run? (not counting the PCB or chassis).

Problem with so many variable is getting it to sound like something. I could turn nobs all day and never find the sound I'm looking for.
I've tried it with some other amps. Someone that know what they are doing comes over and in 2 minutes has the right sound for a given style/song. Then a few tweaks and it's sounding like a whole different amp.

More knobs and I'm even less likely to get anywhere.  :'(

The SP-10 uses a 6.5" speaker.  I opened it to see what was inside and it's what I expected - a cheap, cheap speaker (8 ohms).

Jensen makes a MOD series of speakers and they make a 6.5" size 4 ohm.

No concerns with the impedance change? Or did you make other mods to account for that?

The now discontinued 75 First Act VA881 V-Stack Amp is solid state with some excellent tones on tap.

I wonder what went wrong in that...

Given the reputation of they instruments, I would never even consider their amps.
I know many brass and woodwind repair men and they have never said anything good about the First Act brass or woodwinds.

I wouldn't have expected anything better from the rest of the product line.
