It was originally Ross amplifier (Fame series - model Reverb 25). The sound was horrible so I modded the output stage, reverb and tone stack using the original PCB. Input gain stage, overdrive and channel switching modules were added as my own creations.

Haven't had the chance to listen to the soundclip yet... What kind of distortions did you add?

It's 4049 based overdrive - All 6 inverters used, two separate switchable sections. I wanted to make them foot-switchable but, as you can see, there is a lack of space inside the chassis.

Hello everyone, this is my fist post here after lurking for only 2 days! I was looking for a place like this....here is my First Ruby build, im currently building another one with similar setup, im reading to see if im going to put a Ruby, Noisy cricket, or some cool 3-4 watt chip amp!

This particular setup works on a 12v design, also with the Ruby is a Heartthrob tremolo, great trem from MarkM at DIY stompbox, that is followed by a AMZ mosfet booster at full boost, and that is driving the Ruby.
The speakers are 10 inch CTS from 1960's, 4Ohm total. I like the vintage crunch the spkr give, and it really comes alive with a Big Muff in front of it!

Thanks. Yes I made cabinet myself from pine wood and ply wood. It's coated with old felt carpet and grille is kind of sweat suit fabric.

thnx, here's a picture of the back,
I made it so, that I can attatch a back-panel for closed-back,
and for open-back operation I can use 2 slices of wood with a space between them as rearpanel

I've checked your movies, sounds really great, what preamp did you use?

Here are some pictures of my first and still on-going build:
The amp is a bridged TDA2005 with a modified ruby circuit as the preamp. Power will come from an external 12V power brick. The speaker is a 6" Weber signature ceramic. The cabinet started out life as an IKEA flower pot and was trimmed and shaped to its current form. The "chassis" is half of a Radio Shack aluminum enclosure. I'm having a leather handle made for it tomorrow since none of the ones I've found online are small enough (box is only 8" wide).

I hope to have it all buttoned up before the weekend... Hopefully everything works  :-\
Opinions? I know it's kinda retro looking... but it's being built for a retro kinda guy.

Sorry it took so long to reply. Here are the latest pictures of the hurricane.
Also, here's a sound clip a friend recorded for me. Fair warning, it's about 2.5MB.

Hey man, Both your amps look and sound great! I just finished my little lm1875 job, using a modified professor tweed as the preamp. It works and sounds good, but I'm still "tweaking" it a bit. I've got the prof set for TOO much gain, so I need to mod it a bit (luckly I socketed the caps in the FB loop), and I blew the currently limiting resistor on my power LED, so I need to rewire that too. Once I get those things fixed, I'll post some pics and sounds too...

Congrats on the successfull Build!

Well, I have just finished my first amp build with some success! It's a Professor Tweed modded for 12v, slightly more gain, and tweaked for harmonica (better frequency response) that drives an LM1875 power amp module. I built the prof tweed and power supply on vero, and used the lm1875 mosule from qkits.com. I salvaged the chassis from a defunct old tube radio, got the transformers, jacks, leds, wire, and pots from a pair of old 8-track hifi tape decks, and got the heat sink, mains jack, mains cable, and mains fuse, from an old computer power supply. I sused new switches.

I spent maybe $10 to purchase all the salaged materials from Savers or the Goodwill, and I spent another $10 on the new parts, and about $13 on the lm1875 kit. All told that's about $30-$35 bucks for the whole shebang--not bad if I do say so myself!

Here's a YouTube clip of the amp in action, and I'll follow up with some close up stills, and I'll throw some schematics up in a new thread over in the schematics forum.
