Preamps and Effects / Choosing a clean preamp
September 29, 2011, 07:58:05 AM
Hay,
I'm looking for a clean preamp-smothing with more fendery sound that will work good with pedals. The problem is that I can work only with 16V. Do you have any ideas of what can I build?

Have anyone tried to build the FET TWIN (http://diyfactory.ru/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=89&Itemid=47) with a chipamp as a poweramp? If yes, how is it compared to small tube amp (like black heart) in terms of sound and working with pedals (mostly high gain dist).

Hay, I consider building an SS amp which has the randall rg-80 red channel and a Fet twin as clean. I haven't chose a power amp yet.
1. Can I use any power amp after any preamp or do somethings have to match?
2. From reading Temmu's book I got that a transistor power amps are better then a chipamp but are harder to built. Is the hard work worth it?
3. This question is not really connected but I still ask her: I have a problem with debugging stompboxes. I can't understand how to do it can anyone point to a simple guide?

Amplifier Discussion / debugging a small amp
May 11, 2011, 11:09:07 AM
Hay, today I finished building my first ss amp. It's a 8w chipamp kit for the power amp and the barber ltd (silver fox clone) for preamp. The power amp worked great and made sounds but after I added the preamp I can just hear white noise (then I turn on the drive channel i hear more gain but still no sound). What places to check and how to debug?
Here is the topic with my project planning (in the end I put a barber ltd instead of the shredmaster and used only 1 drive pedal instead of 2)

Preamps and Effects / rod elliot project 27 preamp
December 03, 2010, 01:01:01 PM
hay,

I wanna build this preamp for the clean channel but I have some problems.

1. Is it okay that my power supply will be 14-16v?
2. What caps to use? And if I need electrolityc where is the +?
3. This is the poweramp http://www.vellemanusa.com/downloads/0/illustrated/illustrated_assembly_manual_k4001.pdf. Can I use the same power supply as it is drown in page 7 (just that I'll get 14-16v out of it?
4. How can I do the switching with dpdt between this preamp and a shredmaster (the dist channel)? (I thought that one will be for the output) but how to change the power (it's different voltages).
5.Will there be differnce in volume between the two?
6. I drew a new schematic to turn it into a pcb can you heck if it is fine?

Amplifier Discussion / Designing mini amp amp
November 30, 2010, 04:09:52 PM
Hay, I want to design my own mini amp (I mean about 1/2 to 1 watt like the smokey). I know I can use the little gem/ruby/smokey but I want to make a lot of them and sell them so I prefer my own design. I want it to work on 9V battery. Do anyone have suggestions? Oh and sources of info will be good too.

Amplifier Discussion / A cab from a computer case
November 10, 2010, 03:20:02 PM
Hay, I had an idea instead of building a cab form wood I can use old computer case like this as a 1x12 cab (after I remove all the stuff from there and try to close the holes at the side of it.

Do you thing that will work?

Hay, I want to build a peavey bandit 112 redline or a Randall RX120D
I build a couple of stompboxes but never an amp. I am looking for the PCB and the schematic but can't find one (for both). If anybody can help with the schematic and the pcb and also give some instructions I'll be very greatful.

Oh and for the randall a 60-80 watt ver will be good too.

Amplifier Discussion / SS amp for blues and metal
October 13, 2010, 08:42:35 AM
Hay I want to build a SS amp. It will be a big project and I am sure it will take some time. I want an amp that I can play a texas blues with. Good clean cause the drive I can get from an tube screamer. For the dist channel I want as close as to late 80s' judas priest sound.
I built some fx pedals and modded a cry baby. I think I will be able to build a head if I'll take it slowly.
Any suggestions what to do or to build?

BTW I want it to be able to hold on drums and to make some gigs (I think I need more than 50 or 100 watt)
