Messages - Diary Of An Axeman

I just fixed the the expression pedal for an old 1968-1969, Univibe .
Plugged it started playing it for a couple of weeks and the fuse blew out .
I did the old aluminum foil tick and found the unit still works, then I unplugged it and  took out the foil and put the unit away.
Would any of you techies out there know what kind of fuses that 1968-1969 Univibes used.
Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Those units don't have the bells and whistles of today's AI, IR or Modelers, but I got these old multi effects floor units and Rack processors come across as good as any of the modern devices .
Any of you folks still use the older Boss, Vox, Digitech, Korg or Zoom effects devices ?

Preamps and Effects / Re: Voodu valve problem

Quote from: Fossilshark on June 28, 2017, 09:25:54 PMA friend is letting me borrow his voodu valve online preamp and it has a squealing pitch whenever i turn the input up past half. I changed the tube and factory reset it and every preset sounds like garbage no matter what i do. Theres little information on the web about this thing having problems, any ideas?
Maybe you should have your pickups wax potted to suppress the microscopic "squeel" / feedback .

Quote from: joecool85 on June 25, 2023, 02:19:41 PMThis is quite the setup - curious what you have for speakers/cabs?  Also, do you gig or is this just for fun?

Early 1980's Laney 4x12 cabinet with two Celession Greenbacks and two Fane speakers and a Peavey 2x12 cabinet with two Sheffield 1230 speakers .

You can add a Quilter or Seymoure Duncan Power Stage in place of my Crate Power Blocks,  just add tubes, so you'll still have tubes and enjoy solid state efficiency.

I forgot to add my Monster 1100 Power Bar that powers my whole set up .

Then it goes into my racks(#1) with  two BBE 462 Sonic Maximizers ( both pre /post Eq's) two Hush / Rocktron 2CX Noise Reduction units, two DOD 31band Eq's, Behringer 1124P Feedback Destroyer for handling frequencies that graphic Eqs don't handle and an ETA PD-8 Power Conditioner.

Both CPB's have a Hush / Rocktron Super C and a BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer in the effects loop.

Amplifier Discussion / Re: Watts vs Volume (db)

I use two Crate Power Blocks to pump four 4x12 early 1980's Laney cabinets , loaded with Celession Greenbacks and Fane speakers with two Peavey 2x12 cabs loaded with Sheffield 1230 speakers .
Before I started using them,  other guitarists were telling me that the 150 watts from the Crate CPBs , were not going to be as loud as my Marshall's, Carvins or VHTs .... Boy, were they wrong !!!!
