I'm trying to replace the power filter caps in a friend's Baldwin Professional.  I read on a previous thread that the larger filter cap can has a common positive that needs to be grounded rather than the usual common negative.  Is this true?  That would explain why one of my caps bloated and started horribly smoking!

The rectifier diode orientation should instantly reveal the required cap orientation.

Be careful with caps and their polarity, they can literally explode!
