I built a small bass amp using a TDA2003 kit from vellman or whatever and hated it.  NO clean headroom.

For one, it doesn't matter because its just plain old to small, for two, I think thats +/-18 not that it needs 18v per rail.  Regardless it is still perfect for a LM1875.

Ah, good point.  I was shearly going by voltage ratings.  Regardless, it should be perfect for a single LM1875 application.

Really?  Hmm.  I got that figure from the datasheet not from actually testing.

It's ok to post schematics that aren't yours in the schematics section...thats how most of them will get there.  If you want, you can just post a link to them instead of the jpgs.  It's a good way to archive stuff though.

Those are excellent!  Feel free to post those in the schematics section.

I have a 25.2volt 2 amp (approx 50VA) CT transformer (12.6+12.6) that would be good for a LM1875.  With that voltage it would yield 15watts, plenty for a practice amp.  It's a new in package transformer I grabbed from radio shack.  I don't need it now but I got a good deal on it.  I'm willing to let it go for $10 plus s/h.

**edit**
It'd be a little bit of a stretch, but it would power a LM3886 to 40watts.

Well I kinda figured it wasn't it since you said it was an amp, not a DI box  :P
#2379
I haven't.  But when you can get 68watts out of an LM3886 and its an easy circuit, why try that other one?

Did a quick google search and all I came up with is a stedman DI box that is a GA-12.

Thank Brian, he is the one setting us up with freebie kits :-)

Do you have paypal?  If not you can always send me a check or money order if you have to.

Is it solid state or tube?  What brand is it?
#2384
Depends on the speakers in said boxes.  On average I would say bare minimum of using a LM1875 @ 25watts or so.  But I would really recommend doing a LM4780 @120watts to get full clean volume.

Thats fine, I was just curious.  So it looks like without some pretty good modification it won't cut it as a preamp.
