I have a Vox PF10 amp and im thinking about changing the 6" speaker for an 8". Its going to be a good improvement to the tone?

Enzo

That is impossible to say.  It is like asking if you added more salt to your steak, would it taste better.  First, would an 8" even fit in there?  Not only width wise, but also room for the magnet and frame.

As to improvement, only you can say if it sounds better to you.  If you can connect your amp to an 8" cab somewhere, you might get an idea how it sounds.  otherwise we pays our money and takes our chances.

I was asking that cause i've been thinking in make some changes in the amp, like take off the leds, reduce the gain on dirty channel and replace the speaker. What i really want to know is if changing the speaker will make a big diference on the sound.

Changing the speaker is THE one most effective way to change the sound of an amp.  If it will fit in your amp, the new speaker will definitely change the sound.  it is up to you if you like it better or not.

I'd personally just add a speaker out to the amp. The original speaker sounds fine for practice.
Plus, that allows you to experiment with cab combinatons that would work better for your style (or your needs for loudness).

I did this on my K-20X.  For a few years I played through a 1x10 cab, then sold it when I didn't have the space/need for it.  Now I'm thinking about getting one again.  Since I made a speaker out jack, it's just a matter of buying or building a cab and I'm all set.
Life is what you make it.
Still rockin' the Dean Markley K-20X

Exactly! It's much more practical than taking ou the speaker and cutting a bigger hole for the new one.
You could easily take it to small gigs or practice and plug in a large cab. Now, if you want more power, you can always change the power I.C. + power Transformer, but honestly I think just a larger cab will be more than enough.
These small combo amp speakers aren't usually as efficient as "proper" guitar speakers.

Thanks for all the tips, really helps me and i decided to buy a 1x12 cab for my little amp. Now i'm waiting for it, I bought in internet.

I have a PF10 as well, I've been thinking about a speaker mod.
Instead of going "bigger" I was going to go "better" with a Jensen 6" vintage alnico

I think with a sensitivity of almost 92 dB it would really open up the capability. I haven't found any data sheet on the stock Bulldog speaker.
this is not the sig you're looking for

I'd say go for it! Guitar speakers are hard to come by where I live so I can't really say if it would be a good match for the PF10 or not, but I've always heard good things about Jensen speakers! Speaking of them, their MOD 5-30 has always intrigued me. I wonder how it sounds...

What about http://www.fane-international.com/downloads/Fane%20Sovereign%206100%20DS030513.pdf ?

Is this speaker good and possible alternative?

Hey remember it's a 10 Watt amplifier,,,, :o This is a bit like installing racecar slicks on a bicycle and expecting better performance. :lmao:

Yes it will work but that definition is a VERY broad term,, heck any speaker will work but chasing rock stadium performance from a small bedroom amp is like the Irishman who shot and arrow into the air and missed.  :duh

Way to many folks stick there head in the back of some big name amplifiers and see a bright shinny label speaker often with a hip name and assume that is the speaker to get great tone.  Sorry you can churn numbers until you suck yourself into a black hole but Sadly with speaker swaps you just do not really know the Actual outcome as there are just so many variables,, it's always a gamble. :-[ :-X :-\ :'(

Bear in mind the link is likely for low mirange which may not be well suited for MI application. Remember there are 2 basic types of speakers HiFi and MI (musical Instrument)
Hifi tend to have long travel cones and magnet structure is quite different they only really work in a well designed box.

MI speakers are short travel and don't require as much box design and work in open back or sealed cab.

My advice is install a speaker out jack in the amp and plug it into as many speaker boxes you can borrow or beg,, you will soon realize the combinations are endless.
