Again, voltages that are impossible for e,b,c locations.
Is it another mistake, or is it possible you have some transistors in backwards?

If you do not have a load connected, continue increasing voltage from variac and monitoring DC at output.
It would help if you could monitor AC current from the variac as well, does the variac have a current meter?  Do you have a dim bulb tester?

T3 E -40.1v
   B -40.6v
   C -40.6v

T5 E 0.6v
   B 39.0v
   C 31.4v

I'll get some pics up when I can, I'm out of town for a couple days. Had time to snag some voltages before i left.

Schematics and Layouts / Gretsch Broadkaster Maxi-Lead ...
Last post by dz123 - May 01, 2024, 05:16:39 PM
Hello!  I'm hoping somebody might me able to shed some light on & share some technical info about the Gretsch Broadkaster Maxi-Lead 60 2x12 S.S. guitar combo amp.  I "Think" it's from the 70s.

About 4 years ago I noticed a significant drop in the volume output.  I took it to a local repair guy who replaced some transistors & something else (I forget) and the amp worked like a charm for about 40 minutes and then the drop in output returned.  Unfortunately since neither I nor the repair guy could find any schematics or service guide the amp has just been sitting around doing nothing.

This is not my actual amp but maybe this pic of that I found on-line will be helpful Gretsch Broadkaster Amp

Maybe someone here has some experience w/ this amp or (fingers crossed) some documentation on it.  Any info will help.

At this point I have tested and/or replaced most components in the output section. With the input shorted, I am seeing about -1v DC at the output when the VARIAC is at about 45VAC.Any thoughts on where to look next for issues?

Yes, pictures should help.  Especially of any trace repairs that have been done.
Also, e,b,c voltages for T3 and T5.
