I've been reading about different types of gain stages and immediately after having read about cascaded and parallel gain stages I thought about a design consisting of two cascaded stages parallel with two cascaded stages. Has this been done before or is there even any practical use for this? Or have I got the whole thing all wrong?

I was reading The Ultimate Tone Vol. 1 book by O'Connor and read the first chapter about basic sound systems and amplifier manufacturers like Fender, Marshall, Traynor etc. I was just wondering how come Vox wasn't even mentioned in that chapter? Isn't Vox supposed to be a big deal or what?
