Title: Need good pedal design information
Post by: ibanezlover on February 03, 2008, 11:41:00 AM
I have found plenty of sites full of schematics of different pedals, but I want to know how they actually work. Can somebody recommend a good book or website with how pedals work and how to design or mod them? I have some electronics knowledge and know how tube amps work, but not much about solid-state.

For starters I recommend R.G Keen's GEO website, especially...

Unless we're talking about complex effects like choruses or flangers all this is basically just electronics 101. If you grasp the concepts of opamp-, discrete gain stage- and filter circuits you're halfway there. It will take a while to build the know-how of how all things interact and what works best in guitar effect applications. Most of this you can't learn by reading.
