Title: Decisions, decisions - Sessionette or TM60?
Post by: km1 on October 05, 2015, 05:44:30 PM
Simple question about used amp purchase:

Sessionette 75 (80s) or Tech 21 Trademark 60?

Which would YOU choose?

Disclosure: I own the latter, but am slightly unconvinced by the reverb (doesn't seem to be a huge amount of it) and EQ (highs need cranking).

Depends what sounds you are going for.  Myself, I have my eyes set on a TM30, so I vote for the Tech 21 amp.  Also, no experience with the Sessionette.

Well, both are killer amps, personally I would go for the Sessionnette because it's heavier built but most important, being a widely known circuit and through hole parts, can be repaired forever, and has a much better speaker (typically a "good/heavy" Celestion vs. a generic one)  , but in any case, not *that*  different one from the other.
IF you already have one of them, not much worth going through the hassle of replacing it with then other.
Reverb? ... add some choice digital reverb pedal, latest ones are killers.
Just as an example, here's a *Brazilian*  made one, since ....2009 ....
Which means it's an already mature product by now:

As of the top brightness, a new speaker will cure that.
Italian Jensen (classic or MOD) are known for being the brightest out there.
Try a C12N or a MOD 12 70
Or you can get a used Celestion G1275 from somebody who "upgrades" his cabinets with more expensive ones .
