Both of my board are populated but i havent gotten a power supply or heat sink as of yet.

You could take a j201 and just twist the legs around to get the right pin out. Another of DF's layout the Snakebite calls the that same FET and I used a 201 and it worked out great.

Would something like this be useable. Or is a 9v powered unit
not enough output to be useable.

Is there a good DIY preamp? GGG and Tonepad show some projects as a preamp
but they are really just a booster. That couldnt be used right?

How many watts are we talking here? How many volts would be ideal? How many volts to get full potential out of the chip?
