Alright, 4 more LM3886 kits are ready to go.  Just send me $5 via paypal to joseph.raymond@umit.maine.edu

If you want more than one kit, ask first.  I want to make sure I have enough to go around.  Also, if you want to send a couple bucks extra (or even like 50cents) that would help to offset the cost of me ordering extra parts for the LM1875 kits.

**edit**
Kits will be shipped via USPS priority.

You could use a LM4780 which would give you 120watts.

And for an easy to build, great sounding stompbox, try my 5th Gear Overdrive.  It goes from a middle overdrive sound to a pretty decent distortion.

If you did a stereo LM1875 it would cost you $10 to get the boards and chips etc, normally around $10-20 for a heatsink on ebay and 20ish for transformer.  So plan on $50 to get you going.  Normaly the boards/chips would cost more, but I got some for free and then you just pay shipping plus a couple extra parts that didn't come in.

As far as being a beginner, thats not a problem.  Just less than a year ago I was too.  Sometimes I'm not the best at explaining everything in detail right off.  The good news is, we have a bunch of smart people on here that are great at answering questions.  SO, ask away!

A good resource is the wiki btw.  The link is at the top.  Also, it is good to read the stickies in the power amp and preamp sections of the forum.

You can parallel or bridge LM3886 chips, it just depends on what ohm speaker you want to run.

Your best bet would be to build a bridged LM1875 poweramp or a single LM3886 poweramp setup.  Either way I could probably set you up with a cheap set of boards.

Thats basically it, but normally you have to split the signal before the amps (like shown), then just run a couple resistors with the speaker to allow for room for error.  There is a ton of good posts about it at diyaudio.com since a lot of those guys have bridged LM3886s for subwoofer usage.

Bridged amps are my favorite  8)  Nothing like a bridged LM3886 setup  :tu:

I always thought that bridged was in essence a push pull setup.  I guess I was wrong...

I'm ok with that though, I like answering questions.  Makes me feel smart.  There should be plenty of LM1875s to get you enough for a 5.1 since I think you are the only one that has even expressed interest in any of them.  Plus the LM1875s are unmarked boards, no C1,C2,R1,R2 etc to go by.  You just have to go by the schematic and a couple pics and stuff.  It's not a hard build, but not a beginner's one either.  The good news is, since I've done one I can answer any questions one might have about it.

yup.  Want more than one?
#2353
Ah, ok.  That'll be like $5 or so.  So it'd end up being $10 with shipping for a stereo LM1875.

It's looking like $30ish, I'm going to wait till the stuff comes in from brian to make sure I won't need anything else.  I'd feel bad for you to pay all that ricky.  But if you want to (or anyone else for that matter) wants to include a little extra, you guys know where to paypal it to  ;)

Brian sent out the stuff.  I should have two LM3886 kits ready in a couple days, as soon as the stuff gets here.  Those will go to Dreamseller and SecondandBowery.  I need to order a couple things from digikey to get the other kits together because brian was out of a few things.
