Amplifier Discussion / Fender BXR 200
September 08, 2018, 07:52:30 PM
Hi, my son has a Fender BXR 200 head, which is making a loud buzz noise when turned on. I got it to work once, no idea how but now all it will do is BUZZ.
It almost sounds like when you  unplug a guitar and touch the tip of the guitar cable but LOUD. Volume control makes no difference.
So far I have tried:
A different speaker cab.
Different speaker cable.
Different guitar, and cable.
Turned all the controls up and down.
Patch cable between effects send and return.
Plugged in a footswitch.
Next I am going to take it apart and clean the pots, and look for signs of anything damaged or burnt.
Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Amplifier Discussion / Line 6 experts.....
October 29, 2017, 05:54:54 PM
My son's line6 spider 120 makes a bunch of crackly noise when playing. He showed me that if you give it a slap on the top near the handle, it goes away.  I played it today for a couple hours, and it's a pretty good sounding amp. It would be a lot more useful without all that noise. Any ideas? Thanks.

Amplifier Discussion / Ampeg 140c...
June 03, 2014, 11:33:18 AM
Hi. My son just got an Ampeg 2-12 amp with chorus for free, I think it is a 140c. Nice amp, sounds pretty good. It seems to have been sitting for a long time. It's got some dirty pots, which I can take care of no problem. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that the reverb is not working. When i turn the reverb knob, the volume goes down, and there is no reverb. The reverb tank is plugged in. Not sure where to go from here.

Amplifier Discussion / Impedence question....
June 21, 2012, 01:40:22 PM
Quick question. How critical is it to match the impedence on a solid state amp? I always make sure I do it on tube amps. The reason I ask is that there's a 50 watt 2x12 combo where I rehearse and there is a hole in one speaker. I was wondering if I would cause any damage by just unplugging the bad speaker.
