Amplifier Discussion / New Amp day![pic]

It's a Crate Flexwave 120/212!

Sounds great and it's LOUD great for practicing with my band. =] Looks better in person, btw.

Anyone care to explain speaker magnets? The ones in this baby are thin, and I remember someone who once told me thin magnets were bad. I plan to put V30's in this thing soon. :D

Amplifier Discussion / Short before Diode?
June 07, 2008, 02:23:57 PM
I sold a guy an amp I used to have. A Solid State Crate GLX1200H[using the earlier Flexwave preamp] and there's a problem where you have to crank the volume of the amp to get it to pump the volume out or you're stuck with a fizzy volume level. So it happened once to me and to him just now when he got home [he called me] and he said something about a short before a diode, and the diode isn't getting enough energy. Can you help diagnose it any further before he takes it to a shop? Really don't want to have to take the amp back.

I have a Roland Jazz Chorus 120. It's a 100 watt SS guitar amp. Really nice[but ugly xP]. I recently had an idea and it worked. I hooked up my pc directly to it. Due to my sound drivers I can get awesome bass out of it[so much my house shakes]. I was wondering if this was safe at some decently loud volumes.

I know it's not meant for really low frequencies, but I was wondering if I could do it anyways, and not have to worry about it blowing up.

Hey guys, I want to create an effects loop in my amp so I can buy the EHX tube eq pedal and make it a hybrid. How would one go about doing this?

The Newcomer's Forum / First Overdrive Pedal

Where would I start/What parts do I need to buy to produce an MI sounding overdrive pedal? What stuff do I need other than just a soldering tool[I have a torch with various heads]? I'm eager to sit down and start making my own brand of pedals and things to experiment with different types of effects I can make.

Anyone know how to mod the gain/distortion circuit to achieve hi gain output instead of sloppy over-mud?
