Title: 60 watt(not lb) gorilla
Post by: stigg on September 08, 2010, 05:14:04 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey e'budy
I've got an old 60 watt gorilla transistor guitar
combo. I know what you must be thinking but this has been a good early bandit type amp and I'd like some repair info.
I plugged a guitar into it (only one input) and
it worked for a bit then got a bit scratchy when I
pulled the cord out of the input. I plugged the cord back in and no sound. I checked the power
amp input and with a preamp i can get sound but it appears the main preamp is not working.
I pulled the amp from the chassis and checked the input jack and it passes continuity so then I looked for any obvious hot spots and didn't see any. I don't want to pull the circuit board but can if I need to.
I don't have scope or know how to use one so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?
s:)

Start by cleaning all pots and jacks.
