Polytone Mini Brute 2 speaker question

Hi, new to the forum.  I've been playing for little over a year and I am still on the learning curve.  I have a polytone mini brute 2 with 12" speaker bought used.  A few weeks it was clean and now it sounds like the speaker has a blanket over it.  Is it time to change out the speaker?

Not the speaker.
Move the switch away from the "dark" setting *or*, if yours was one of those rare ones with tweeters, it might be disconnected or blown.
