Paypal will be excellent.  I can't imagine shipping would be more than like...$8 or something.

Brian shipped out a bunch of amp kits to me for me to distribute to you guys.  All I need is money for shipping.  I'm not totally sure what will be in the box, but he said that there is stuff for around 10 amps.  Anyway, there should be LM3886 and LM1875 kits.  Whoever wants one, post here and reserve one before someone else does!  I know RDV was interested in a LM3886 and a LM1875 last I knew...

Yup, just email Brian and he will gladly do it for you.  If you want I would check the group buy thread though, RDV said he would split the cost of a dual mono with someone.

I like 4x8 cabs :-)

Anyway, a LM3886 poweramp should be plenty, wire it for 4 ohms and it'd give you 68watts.  Kits can be had for the poweramp section from chipamp.com

Well, the good news is that building your own amp is pretty easy and simple.  There are a few things to keep in mind though.  Any time you are building an amp you will want to build a preamp.  The Little Gem and Ruby don't require one because they are essentially a preamp powerful enough to power a speaker lol.  How many watts are you looking at?

So far it looks good to me, but I just took a quick look.  I'm at my parent's house right now.

The schematics are readily available.

The LM3886 will give you roughly 68watts and the LM1875 only 30W, of course, this is RMS power.  Roughly double that for peak.

You can actually get kits from chipamp.com for both of those, and if you wait a little while, you can get one from me for free, just pay shipping.  Brian, the guy that runs chipamp.com, is setting me up with some LM3886 and LM1875 kits to distribute here.

**edit**
I listened to your free mp3s on your site, not bad.  Where can I get the Big Band EP?

Yeah, I guess I should have said that for the most part a poweramp won't color the sound, at least unfavorably.  I've tried lm3886 and lm1875s for poweramps and neither one seemed to shape the sound, some very very minor differences were noticed though and I like the lm1875 a little better.

100watts is easily obtainable with a chipamp.  I would recommend using a LM4780 for the poweramp section, this would give you around 100w RMS of power and they are relatively easy to work with.  As far as tone goes, 99% comes from the guitar, preamp and speaker choice.  A good poweramp will not color the sound.

I think he meant building a new one, not rebuild his current peavey.  Anyway, the easiest way to get more power out of it would be to build a power amp and just line out from the peavey.

As far as power supply goes, you'll need to redesign that quite a bit to accomodate more voltage/amps as well as grab a nice large transformer.  Again, it would be easiest to just build a power amp and use the peavey as a pre.

Anyone built one of these?  I took a quick peak, and they do look really simple.  I don't need a huge amp right now though.
#2397
Nice, thanks!  You the man RDV!
#2398
Sure, post it up!  I'm thinking of doing the LPB1 on tonepad.com

I haven't even built one yet, but I keep hearing people rave about how great booster pedals are...whats the hype about?  Doesn't it just make your guitar louder?  Couldn't you just turn up the amp?

I just listened to those again, they are almost bad enough for me to not even want them online lol.  Oh well, I think regardless of my poor guitar playing, it shows the DRP1 in action a little anyway.
