Title: I want to ask a question
Post by: Jmatt on October 11, 2019, 01:32:20 PM
I screwed up and would like to know how to make it right.
I accidentally shorted out my speaker output wires together on my old amp and now it makes a funny noise. It's a kmd with a 12 in. Celestion. The model num. Is gone off the sticker but I got pics any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance.     JM

There are likely quite a few small amps like yours that don't have short circuit protection on the output, so likely you have blown the output transistors.
Pull the chassis and take some pictures of the internals and some here might know how to fix the issue.
Phil.

Thanx Phil for the reply
The chasis is a gs 65D and there is a fuse that is blown inside. The fuse is 3.5A.

Isn't that a ProAmp badged as KMD? A little Essex-based company with (tenuous) links back to Selmer?

Gs65D is a legit model name for KMD, I have the schematic in my files  in my storage unit.  I will dig them out next time I go there.

I agree, the output devices is most likely failure.
