you may want to change the values of C3 and C8 but I would have caps there.
that 12ax7 should drive that or most any tone tank just fine.

Tubes and Hybrids / Re: Peavey Mace Question ?

I call it a clipping circuit because it actually does clip , peavey calls it a noise reduction circuit, and it does reduce noise , I suppose it really depends on who your talking to and in what context what this circuit would be called. however if you call Peavey or a authorized service center and ask about this circuit , they refer to it as a noise reduction circuit. To make a long story short , I have bridged this circuit many times for customers as well as on my own Triumph the amp in my opinion sounds better without it.

I agree JM , I went to a club last weekend , there was a band playing this new heavy metal, 1 was playing a Mesa Triple Recto the other was playing a Randall SS , to be honest with there setup I couldn't really tell much difference in there tone lol lol lol

P.S. that's a terrible thing to do to a Triple Recto lol lol lol

Enzo , call it what you want brother , it really makes no difference.  bry melvin  there is a post on Hoffman's amp forum about mods on this amp , that are very good I have done all but one of them , check it out , after modding this amp it is one great little amp.

I guess it's just a matter of semantics. If removing signal information that exceeds a certain threshold counts as "clipping" then why not removing signal information that's below a certain threshold as well (even if the removed parts are nothing but noise).

The way I view it, both circuits "clip" but the process is different and applies to different portions of the signal. Either way, the diodes are erasing parts of the signal.

yes both circuits do , I removed  the diodes in my own Triumph and I like it better without them , however , I will say this , when you remove this diodes , if you use the gain channel on the amp it is a bit more noisy(yea I know , but I did say peavey say's it's a noise reduction circuitg lol lol lol)

Yes according to Peavey they are in the circuit for noise reduction , but they do clip the signal. That's all I said folks ;D

yea I listened to that pritchard amp sample as well , it does sound good the PRS don't hurt the tone either lol lol lol , along with the ability to play lol lol lol
Like I have said before I have heard good sound amps both tube and SS , however this amp does sound really good , I don't know maybe it's just me but it sounds alot like a Lab Series  amp to me.

interesting discussion about  Bluetone amps from diystompboxes a couple years back:

http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=25368.0

I love the Peavey Bandit!  I've had the idea of remounting an 80s one in a head cabinet for a bandit half stack on the back burner for a while now.

I have one of those bandit 112's those a killer little amps plenty of volume , yes that would be a great project and hey if you build a matching 4X12 cab loaded with scopions you"ll have a rockin little half stack brother.

Oh I'm knocking really knocking them I guess I'm just not that good with the computer lol lol lol , I'm sure you can do a fairly good simulation of a circuit if you give the computer enough information to work with. I tried the sim programs , spice was one of them as a matter of fact and they work pretty well with solid state circuits , however with the nature of tubes , I personally think they are a waste of time. With all that said , if they work for you then more power to ya .

Try the replacement transformer for the Marshall MG100Dfx I believe it use's the same transformer .

Well J M the customers alway's right when they have cash lol lol lol

agreed it needs some seriously cleaning to start with , if you need a diagram for this amp go to http://www.schematicheaven.com there's one there .  However it is for the export not the U.K.

How ya doing J M ?
Yes you probably could , and perhaps get tone that is very cllose to that of a tube , which brings up another thought , with a MOSFET it the power section , you no longer need the output transformer lol lol loll
