Making a guitar amp out of a computer speaker

Ok so i have a computer speaker wich has 2x3" speakers that sound pretty good and i want to add some distortion/overdrive to the circuit.It has tone and volume control and i was wondering how to add distortion to it and also by adding a drive section to it will i be able to connect it to the speaker power supply 20v or should i use a separate power supply for the drive section.Thanks

Keep in mind that the frequency response of computer speakers will be very different than guitar speakers.

Are you planning on using the old circuitry or making your own?  The easiest solution would be to use the case and speaker and run them with a Little Gem or Ruby 9v powered amp: http://runoffgroove.com/littlegem.html or http://runoffgroove.com/ruby.html
