Amplifier Discussion / Yamaha G100
January 04, 2022, 06:38:33 PM
I have a general consensus type question (kinda). I am playing through a Yamaha G100 just the head no combo all my Uber high high gain I get from pedals, Lately when it's time to jam it isn't the same .It's not tube so no warming up silicone trannies. So I'm thinking my same settings day to day won't change for a few weeks but some of the screaming sustain I'd get would be there one or 2 days not there the next day etc. No change of strings pots nothing . So.
Recap?
Seems the obvious choice
Seeing I love high gain all through pedals it'd be a win win No?
Cleaner amp. Thoughts and suggestions anybody?
I have the series one G100 series 1 running through an old Altec Lansing 15" and when the Yamaha is kicking it screams I love it  but when it's not can't seem to dial in anything close just figured I'd throw it out there before I go for it

Amplifier Discussion / Yamaha G-100 Head

 Hello Forum,
I've had my Yamaha G100 now for about 4 years. I really love this amp. There is a jack on the back of the head labeled "Record output". Because I have no way of recording with a mic i would like to try using this and I have with no success.
I believe I'm using or doing something wrong. The schematic says "+4dBm nominal  +31.2dBm max  For 600 ohm unbalanced lines".

So far Ive tried using a guitar cord from the record out to my instrument in jack on my Line6 and got nothing. I didnt want to risk frying anything so thats all Can anyone explain what im doing wrong and how I can properly use this jack. Everything on the amp works perfectly (I bought it used) so I dont think anything is wrong with the amp.

ANY help on this would be greatly appreciated Thank You

Hello,
As I am fairly new to DIY and electronics I have uploaded the schematic to my Yamaha G100. I'm hoping someone can help me out by telling where the distortion section is and what type of distortion is used and is it mod do able. I find the distortion fully cranked very weak and going clean with different combos of a DS-1, ross comp., a cheap overdrive and a cheap blues breaker style. So far Im diggin the DS-1 into a Nuxx OD-3 (now when I go through my little fender Bullet using the Bullets distortion and these 2 pedals it screams (and I LIKE a LOTTTT) but much weaker and blatty using the Yamaha. I figured they are both solid state could I get the fender distortion sound from the yamaha?

Also I've been scouring the internet trying to find out the wiring for the footswitches. Can any body help e out here? Maybe draw up a schematic of how I am to wire one up. Like mono or stereo plugs? Latching or non latching switches?  momentary or non switches? I have the skill to do fairly good modding and building just lacking the ability to really understand and comprehend the whys and hows of electronics. Building kits and diy ing is 1 thing but total comprehension of a schematic is a totally higher level IMHO

Amplifier Discussion / Yamaha G100 Head

Hello Forum,
I am hoping some one out there can give any info on this particular model. I dont have a cabinet but I do have 3 little SS amps 1 crate and 2 fender bullet amps . I was hoping that 1 or 2 of those speakers could work providing they match ohm ratings. Am I correct? And 2nd where and what kind of speaker cable do I get? On the back of the amp head there re 2 outputs. 1 says 1 ou 2 : 4~8 ohms  and the other   says 1 + 2 : 8~16 ohms.  I am assuming this means 1 of the outs is for 4 to 8 ohm speakers and the other for 8 to 16 ohm. Am I correct?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated Thank you in advanceXFHATK
