Title: Reverb with Dwell, Tone and Mix controls
Post by: frontsideboneless on April 22, 2020, 02:43:49 PM
I want to adapt the reverb circuit from the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for use as a standalone effect for use in front of an amplifier (like a pedal).

I wish to have the same controls as the 6G15 Fender Reverb Unit (Dwell, Tone and Mix)

I already have a tank with 600ohm input and 2250ohm output impedance. (I have a 1EB2C1A laying around in a broken amp). This is the same type used in the Hot Rod Deluxe.

The reverb schematic is available here (scroll down a little bit)https://robrobinette.com/Compact_Reverb.htm#Solid_State_Spring_Reverb (https://robrobinette.com/Compact_Reverb.htm#Solid_State_Spring_Reverb)

Which components would I need to modify to achieve this? Is this even possible?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome,  :)
The SS reverb in those amps is not the best and there are much better SS circuits for a stand alone reverb.

This Chap has a whole page on how to make reverb circuits.
https://sound-au.com/articles/reverb.htm
Rod Elliot has helped me to build some stunning reverb circuits,, top bloke :dbtu:

I came up with a way to drive the tank with a small Transformer and it works well. (similar Tx drive is mentioned on that page)
But you can get good results with what is called Current Drive, easy and simple to setup.

I'll have a dig through my files and see if I can find the circuit for my PhAbb TVerb stand alone reverb unit, it should work with your tank,,, meantime here is a pic of it.
the tiny transformer is the little white square on the small PCB.
