Hello. Now i' m building a bass preamp and i want you to see my idea and give me some suggestions or some advices.

The bass preamp starts with a simple 1 transistor booster- 20db at max level(electro - harmonix clone),
then it goes in a baxandall tone stack(active) for electric bass( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Mcgiver69/ParametricEqualizer.gif ), but without the parametric bandpass filter. For the op-amp i would use TL072, or OPA....,
then comes the end, which will be separated:
1 balanced(XLR out), 2 main out.

I want to ask, is this tone stack a good solution for the EQ section?
And i thought of a master level mod , a punch mod(which i really don't know what is) or some other proposals for you.

Again, sorry for the english.

Personally for me Tone stacks suck , especially for bass , they only cut frequencies and dont boost and with a Bass it is nice to get more bass out of it than it normally produces .....

I would suggest you go for a active tone section , or even an active graphic EQ section (Parametric with adjustable Q would be much better but much more complicated) , it would be more versitile and allow for more tone shapeing .....

Cheers

If i find a good parametric eq schematic i will use it, but i can't find a good one to use with bass guitar.

Thanks for the reply.

I think i found what i wanted. I will use the schematic for the tone control which i posted but will cut it right after the baxandall and the op-amp. Then i will use a simple parametric eq for more control of the bass. Here s the schema:

Do you think that the values of the capacitors are ok for the parametric eq or i need to make some adjustments and do you think i should add another section below 100hz because the low E of the bass is below 100hz?

Hi hasss,
A picture's worth a thousand words so I'll let you ponder this one.
Simulations are not perfect but do give one some idea of the end result.

BTW, the circuit you refer to is just a 3 band EQ not really a parametric EQ.
Cheers, Phil.
