Not as of yet. We wanna make sure everythings checked and do a bit of reading first. Will post values once I get them. I will be so happy when I finish this one. I wanna get it done before I head on to TAFE next year, Hopefully I do.

Finally seems to be coming together. Will post purctures soon.

Thanks for the info, as expected I have a couple questions

*Im still not exactly sure about where the Light bulb current limiter goes, could someone please claridy
*What is the safeest way to drain caps as I assume these things will have enough power in them to make me very hurting and angry
*What are the correct values I should be looking for when testing out the power amp?

I know that I have said this before but this time but this time School is over not just holidays so I think this will actually be the time.

Well finally my final year of school is over, I think its about time I finished this pesky thing. This weekend I will look for an enclosure and wire everything up. My main concern is the whole AC power aspect as I have never wired anything from the wall before. I have already checked all my solders and components and I will do so again. I will wear gloves and plug it in to see how it goes.

To test it I will use the pre amp out from my other amp and see how it goes. I still havn't decided on a pre amp yet, one mor thing I can do now. Then I will move onto the LM1875 kit which I havn't even looked at yet...........

Anyhow the point of this was for warnings and pointers on testing this thing for the first time. Also do I need to test the output of the transformer before hooking it up to the power supply board?

so carefully check the springs to make sure that they are tight and if its still weak placce a booster between the amp and the reverb tank input.

If I placec a booster thought will it make the amp louder when reverb in dialed in?

I think I have askedd this before at some point but Im not sure where.

Can I remove the reverb tank from my amp and replace it with a different electronic reverb or some other effect, the reverb sound in this amp is weak which is the reason I want to do this.

Is there anything special about the signal being fed into the tank? And is there a way to boost the amount of reverb without changing the tank?

Since school is out I now have some time to finally finish my LM3886 amp.

I have an enclosure from an old amp the no longer worked and it is absolutely perfect for this, not to big but everything fits comfortably and all the original buttons are still good so i can use all the orignal controls on the front panel.

As for using the flipster as a preamp im not so sure anymore, my main concern being that from what I can gather it always has overdrive which varies depending on the input volume. If this is the case then this isnt really what im after. I want somthing to emulate a clean ampeg sound, is there anything beside the flipster like this (solid state).

I have also decideed to put in an inbuilt distortion channel as there is space in the enclsure to do and the faceplate has the spare controls for this also, what im looking for is a mesa boogie recto simulator (or somthing similar, not sure ive named the amp right either but I think the message gets through).

Another is thing ive thought about for the preamp is to use a tube preamp and make it a valve/soluid state amp. Has anyone else done this and if so has it been worth it? I had very mixed reponses about whether or not a solid state power amp does a valve preamp justice and keep the "warmer" tone the most valve amps have

Yeah the did not seem to be on their game that day. The distortion they usually use is the mesa boogie and as for the chorus all I could dig up is that they use Boss SE-50s

dont know if that helps but...........

They sound fine with hifi, Havent finished my LM1875 yet so I cant really tell you. I also get a speaker box with a random 12 inch speaker, I will probly use that with the LM3886 kit.

In term of a replacement speaker, Is there any harm in using an acoustic speaker with electric guitar? I only ask because the specs seem the same and they are a dam site cheaper.

Also I think I have asked this before but is there any harm in plugging a bass into an electric guitar amp?

Ive been given a nice set of speakers, Its two 6x9 4 ohms speakers individually boxed but the boxes join together into a nice little case.

I know, I would rather look like an idiot than make a mistake while working with mains power.
Hence the better safe than sorry.

Wow. I really made an arse of myself on that one.

Oh well, Better safe than sorry
