It's official, the Kickstarter campaign is live!

The Honey amp is a small 1/2w, LM386-based amp.  Unlike most LM386 amps though, it doesn't use that chip for it's primary distortion.  The LM386 is set open for a gain of 20.  Preamp duties are taken care of by a modified version of my 5th Gear Overdrive circuit, including a custom BMP style tone adjustment.  I've voiced it very similarly to the Top Boost circuit of a Vox AC30 - it does not emulate the Vox, but it does have similar tonal response.

It can run from 6v to 18v (spec'd with an LM386-4).  It comes with aux in and headphone out 1/8" jacks, and has gain, tone, and master volume controls.  Check it out!

**Edit to include maximum wattage specs @ 10% THD  / 1% THD**
4 ohms = 0.35w @ 9v (clean 0.25w)
8 ohms = 0.85w @ 12v (clean 0.5w)
16 ohms = 1.6w @ 16v (clean 1.0w)

I would love to hear some sound samples from the amp, demonstrating the tone control and variable distortion.  It might help your kickstarter, too.

The kickstarter page has a video demo.
If it ain't broke I'll fix it until it is.

Hey Joe, pretty cool amp.  :tu:

I'd back the project but I'm in Canada.
Can you change the kickstarter to allow folks from Canukistan to back it?

Thanks!

It is on the Kickstarter page, but here is the video on its own: https://youtu.be/DUFayL3N10s

I've made the adjustment! Only reason why is that you have to calculate shipping for each country. If anyone else from another country is interested, let me know and I'll add it as an option!

I'm in!  Thanks for the opportunity.

Now if I could just get a compressor added into the circuit! :cheesy:

I wonder if I can stack with pedals...

I'm thinking about adding an option for purchasing the kit with a small speaker.  Thoughts?  Personally I wouldn't be interested, but I have had one person mention to me that it would make the kit more complete and might be more interesting for some people.

If so, should I go cheap (sub $10 per speaker) or a legit Jensen etc for maybe $25-30.  The Jensen would double the price of the kit is my concern.

Could you add Ireland for shipping please. I'd vote for no speaker.

All set!  Also, I spent some time with the USPS rate tables online and was able to figure out "world" prices and now this kit is available anywhere via First Class USPS International shipping!

49% funded and I've added some new rewards.  For $24 you can now sign up for the minimalist kit.  For $45 you can get the Full Monty including a speaker!
