Hi all,

I just picked up a working Acoustic Control Corp. 135, which is the 150 head with 2 x 12 config.

Other than missing the cable wrap lugs on the back, scratchy pots and some cosmetic bumps its all working including reverb and tremolo.

Since this is about a 1974 vintage I was thinking of replacing the filter caps.

Anyone have an estimate on a cap job for a 134/135  or 150 head?

Other restoration tips?

Thanks

Roly

Hi @markustg - welcome.

Unless it's humming excessively, I wouldn't bother.

If you do it yourself then it's just the cost of the caps, otherwise you'll have to get a quote from an amp tech - rates vary.
If you say theory and practice don't agree you haven't applied enough theory.

QuoteI was thinking of replacing the filter caps.

It's not just filter caps, it's ALL electrolytic caps that have gone bad.

But I second the opinion that I wouldn't bother unless the amp is obviously showing signs of aged capacitors.
