Title: 3.5mm jack for 3/8" hole
Post by: aoresteen on March 13, 2013, 01:40:46 AM
Does anyone know of a supplier for 3.5mm stero jacks that will fit in a 3/8" hole?

I want to convert the 1/4" jacks on my amp's aux in & headphone connectectors to 3.5mm size.

I don't want to use an adapter that allows a 3.5mm plug to plug into a 1/4" jack.  I have those.  I'd rather just replace the jacks.

Thanks!

No,, it is just being silly,,, unless you have some life threatening illness that requires a must have 3.5 plug,,, use the Adapter. :duh

Agree.
Or, as a "Plan B", get 2  1/4" stereo plugs and solder them instead of the original 3.5mm plugs.
What amp are you trying to Mod?
Are the original 1/4" jacks PCB mounted or chassis mounted, connected to the PCB with flying wires?
Not the same.
If PCB mounted, forget it, such an adapter does not exist because it will never match the myriad of different PCB mount "footprints".
If wire connected, maybe I could give you an idea, but need pictures because this is not an "electronics" problem but a "physical size" one.
That's why Phil suggests cutting it easy and just use the adapters ;)

If the adapters are a problem - change the plugs to 1/4".

I forgot that most jacks are PCB mounted.   :-[

Forget it.  I'll just use the adapters.  Thanks!
