Title: Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 problem
Post by: noahc72 on October 27, 2009, 03:33:19 PM
I have a pretty old Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 that I bought used a few years ago. It has developed a really fuzzy/distorted sound on channel 1 when it should be clean sounding (gain turned way down). This is not the normal distorted sound it is supposed to have when the gain is turned up either. Channel 2 works fine. I am sure that this is something internal and i took it apart but didnt see anything obviously fried or anything like that. Any ideas?

I would guess a corroded part somewhere that needs to be resoldered. Or maybe a bad pot?

I think we might be discussing this same amp on another forum.   I suggested a bad op amp in that channel.  And from that era, they are probably already in sockets.
