Title: Crate power block speaker question
Post by: mcfly on May 26, 2007, 11:46:59 AM
I have aquired a crate power block and a Ampeg PB110H bass cab.(The lil 20 pound one)
This is for band practice and as a back up-
The Power block has a MONO 8 ohm out put(bridged/150 watt)
It also has TWO 4 ohm out puts(left/right each 4 ohm/75 watt)
QUESTION
My little cab is 4 OHMS, can I use it in one of the two stereo 4 ohm out puts and have NOTHING plugged into the other?(The guy I got it from says yes)
The manual says nothing about this.
DOES each speaker out put jack switch the amp(s) on when a speaker cable is installed?
Thanks-McFly

Sounds to me like it is a dual amp setup inside there.  By using just one of the stereo outs it will run your cab just fine.  The other will technically be "on," but that doesn't matter.

Thanks JOECOOL.Why wouldnt the manual state that?I know people have run it in bridge mode (8 ohm) with a 4 ohm speaker and the amp started cutting in and out.(like a demented tremolo)
By the way-how do I post pic's? THANKS!

When posting, click additional options, then attatch a file.

And no problem.  I have no idea why it wasn't in the manual.
