ok i repeated the experiment...and did the measurements for 5 b

still need to do the calculations 5 a

You cannot view this attachment.

also my scope and probe needs to be calibrated...

 :P

also that dc measurement at point d looks better this time

got tons of pics but figured i would chill out and stop posting millions of pics
if you need to look at something let me know

the capacitor i used is electrolytic was in a pickle about the orientation....
 :o but its still alive

thank you sir

here is the reference

i thought it would be the 1 v riding on the dc like a 25v tall wave

at the end of the day all i did was make a dc circuit

 ::)

ok after further review....looks like i need to work parts 5 and 6

doh

i did a breadboard experiment where i measured voltages and calculated voltage drops

also they wanted me to take measurements at certain points rather than across each component

You cannot view this attachment.

and im amazed at how close they came out...although i messed up on point D gonna have to redo the experiment

You cannot view this attachment.

even though i had the ac? portion of the circuit on the left it was a non factor as I couldnt really get anything out of it.
maybe that was the point

still im missing that 1v pp

gonna have to do some more calculation

figured i was starting too many threads and it would be better to keep it all in one place

gonna be posting some stuff that is painfully obvious to the more skilled members here yet is an epiphany for me  ::)

btw everybody here has been super cool and helpful

so here we go

 :)

yes sir just looked it up....

there is a schematic for the inside...transistors...diodes...zeners...resistors...

nm

:'(

but thats cool i had wondered if some transistors are simply called voltage regulators....like the one we put in my Peavey Audition Chorus because they have three legs and look like transistors.

so the answer is

NO THEY ARE NOT

:)

I decided to try and figure out what this TO-3 was....and if it was good

so a probing I went

and here is the device under test  :P

You cannot view this attachment.

I kinda want to look it up and see if i am right....

but i will wait

 ::)

so I am previewing this looking back at my data thinking maybe those reverse bias? readings look kinda low.....oh well too late to chicken out now

i say
-its a PNP and its good (no shorts)

 :P  ::)

thank you sir

sorry for the false alarm

I went and looked and the trace simply runs beneath the plastic fuse holder

You cannot view this attachment.

it seems to run to a jumper connected to an input jack which snapped when i looked at it

my apologies

thank you sir

it is from a metronome i brought home from my friends junk store

You cannot view this attachment.

it had a blown fuse

You cannot view this attachment.

when i replaced the fuse and powered on dbt it made a horrible louder than heck noise so it was instantaneously disconnected
and the bulb was burning BRIGHT

on my to do list : mount switch on my dbt!!!  :o

I suspected the bridge rectifier but when removed it tested good out of circuit

You cannot view this attachment.

so it has a short somewhere and there is no schematic

also there is a TO-3 ? that is $$$$$$$$  it may be good idk

I was hoping to fix it without bothering you guys ha ha (YEAH RIGHT  :)  )

but i really like it

would be cool to use it playing guitar

fortunately this didnt have more than three wires on the secondary side

green to green

then each green to yellow/green

that last pic looks a little too close for comfort
 :(

I presume that yellow/green is the center tap.... :P

time to read about center tap(s)

the two green went to a bridge rectifier

the yellow green went to an 8 pin chip...and back to the primary fuse holder.... :o

hope you had a nice labor day weekend

wanted to input signal to BB and check it out

seems SG needs to be added in series

so here we go....
randomly chose 1k resistor then connected SG as PS

didnt want to kill my "new" scope so checked with multimeter first

You cannot view this attachment.

being cautious was tough to get any kind of output...I started on the low output and cranked it up...got some mv reading finally

connected my scope and couldnt get a triggered signal worth crap

repeated the above on high output

You cannot view this attachment.

was still surprised to see small output....idk

but finally got signal on my scope and tried to adjust pp

then I remembered what G1 said about dc offset so i checked it and it works like he said but wierd if i went to far it got cut off...clipping?

You cannot view this attachment.

so that was a lot of fun  gonna put this stuff up and contemplate todays events
 :o

like why i get the same reading when scope is set to ac or dc...

but i was happy to see the amplitude change when volts per div was changed

as usual thanks for listening

update

actually added some equipment

mocked it up with my jams

still need a set of shelves on the bottom

them wood blocks got to go

in the middle where those speakers are will be scope, ps, sg etc

all 100% roadside acquisition...obviously  ::)

maybe it will evolve from here

finally unpacked some of this stuff

dc offset moves but doesnt hold

anyhow feelin pretty good even though i feel like i parachuted into another planet

have no idea whatsoever about these controls or adjustments

should be fun

cant believe that hickock works...awesome the dc offset moves the trace but falls back

I wanted to fix my heathkit scope and i (we) will in time but i ordered another one so i could get on with my journey here which is happening at a snails pace

gonna have to do a lot of reading and watching videos

thanks not really but might want to put in the swap meet section here
